What KNX is
KNX is an open, international standard for home and building control. Hundreds of manufacturers make KNX devices (keypads, dimmers, blind actuators, thermostats, sensors), and they all speak the same language over a dedicated bus cable.
The intelligence is distributed: each device knows what to do, so there is no single controller that everything depends on. Lights, blinds and climate keep working locally, with or without an internet connection.
What Control4 is
Control4 is an integrated smart home platform. A Control4 controller brings together audio, video, cinema, lighting, climate, security, cameras and intercoms into one app, touch panels and remotes.
Control4 is designed, installed and programmed by authorised dealers. Its strengths are the user interface and the breadth of integrations, especially for entertainment and audio-visual systems.
